A little girl time

It is just me and my girl today, daddy is at work and GeGe's are at grandma and grandpas. We have a 2nd birthday to prepare for (next weekend) can't believe my baby is almost 2. Goes by especially quick when you miss the first 15 months of ones life.

My baby is having a hard time, the last couple weeks she has been hitting and biting and super busy seems over busy just can't sit still. I think she is feeling a bit anxious. My gut tells me this is mostly an "adoption issues" along with a bit of a toddler issue. So today we are going to spend lots of one on one time, playing, holding and whatever else I can come up with. This is new to me, every kid is so different. Just need to figure out what my Naomi needs now.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Thanie's 1/2 Birthday Party (round1)

We decided a couple years back that we would celebrate Nathaniel's half birthday since he was born on Christmas eve. That was supposed to be in June but August seemed to work just fine. A family camp-out in the backyard, burgers, caeser salad, fruit and cupcakes (his menu choice). We ended the evening with a campfire and s'mores. You know your kid is getting older when he gets and i-pod, camera and video games and loves it.

"The Call" One Year Ago

It was August 13, 2008, about 7:15 in the morning. I had just woken up from a beautiful dream of Cherry Blossoms and blue sky. We had a referral of a sweet little 11 month old with a cleft lip. We got the pictures right away, her file came a couple hours later. I knew she was ours, our sweet daughter. We had waited for this call for so very long, my heart ached, my mind was crazed, we had been through so much. It was finally "right"

I love you sweet little ChuYu, I am forever grateful that you came into our lives.

My Boy

So Handsome . . .

So talented

Zach just whips up a quick little drawing on our kitchen chalk board . . . like it was nothing. I am impressed.

P.S. He wants to be a punk rocker when he grows up, can you tell? In a band of course.

Opps!!

I got a wild hair tonight . . . not a good one. For some reason I thought I could cut Naomi's hair. Not so much. Thought I could save a little money. I am not a hair dresser nor will I ever be. No pictures, sorry. Later

But what is a blog post without pictures? Guess who is charge around here?

There is a family in China adopting a 4 year old little girl. Their new daughter has tested positive for TB but is no longer contagious. The US will not grant her a visa. Here is the families blog http://jayscruggs.livejournal.com

Aspen

Our Aspen has cancer again. It came back. She has had 2 surgeries in the last 4 months. We can't do anymore, there is only so much tail and butt to remove. We are going to make her last weeks as fun as possible, we took her to the off leash dog park last night, she got a nice dip in the lake. I see steak and burgers in her near future. This is SO HARD!!! I really love my girl and can't and don't want to imagine life without her.
