Rambling . . . bottles, ear tubes and being a mom
The last couple days have been kind of blah around here. Nothing is wrong but things just are not going smoothly, Kids are not listening and are sassy. Today I took a few extra minutes to hold and snuggle each of my kids. They needed it, so did I. Each of them at different odd moments today just fell into my arms, they just needed me to reach out. A reminder to me to slow down and try and live each moment.
Naomi loves to be heard, who doesn't? Her screaming is starting to get to me. I am trying to give her as many signs as possible but sheesh . . . this girl needs to STOP the screaming. We will keeping working on it. Like all fazes . . . this too will pass.
We have been using the Playtex nursers (awesome for traveling in China) but I needed to get more of the drop in liners. So instead of getting those I decided to get glass bottles. No BPA issues and easier to warm the milk. We are just about done with formula, never used formula for the boys . . . that stuff is expensive. We are doing a morning and night bottle. I figure we will do the nighttime bottle for as long as she needs, it is such good bonding time. We snuggle and sing. Her eyes are so dark, very different from the blue eyes of my boys. I know I say this all the time . . . We absolutely LOVE having Naomi home, all of us really enjoy her. She is so LOVED.
I think it is time for another set of ear tubes for Zach. Poor thing is pretty much deaf. Probably why he has been such a crab lately, frustrating for him. Today Pete heard something on NPR about kids and anesthetic. . . kids with multiple procedures that require anesthetic seem to have learning disabilities. Of course it is one of the first studies so nothing concrete. Like I need one more thing to worry about. This will be his 3rd set of tubes. So there is also the worry about scar tissue and permanent hearing loss. But the poor thing is walking around in a fog.
Yes, I do love being a mom. These kids bring so much to my life . . . joy, pride, frustration, love, exhaustion, patients, so much love that only a mother knows.

More Piggies
I just love the little pigtails. There are a few peeps who accuse me of dressing my girl in PINK all the time . . . well check out the Blue.
We are considering getting Naomi's ears pierced. Before I had her I said i would NEVER get my babies ears pierced. Now is a completely different story. Why??? Because!!!!
Backyard
It is officially spring, lots of rain and wind. We have had a couple moments where we can escape to the backyard. The kids love being outside. Zach's job is to scoop poop, can you tell how pleased he is to be doing so??? Look how sweet he is catching his baby at the bottom of the slide.
Naomi just loves it out there she is a big digger, I remember when I first got her 4 months ago she had very tan hands with lots of dirt under her finger nails . . . I think digging has always been her thing.
We are hoping to get our backyard landscaped this summer. Any ideas??? you can tell we have a blank slate.

Spring
This morning I was awoken by the sounds of little birds chirping, I love that sound. Soon there will be sunshine.
Yesterday one of my dearest friends had a brand new baby. These friends are somewhat "old fashioned" they don't find out if it is a boy or girl until the birth. Then they won't tell you when they make the call, they make you come to the hospital . . . mean I say, mean. :)
So I quickly stuffed lunch into the kids and we raced to the hospital. HE is so precious . . . It is a boy and the moment I heard "son" the tears started flowing, boys are great!!!! I have 2 of them so I know. My friends now have one of each, a boy and a girl. Another little person to watch grow. I love it!!
I forgot to mention the sweet smell of a new baby, remember that smell . . . how could you forget.

Ge Ge & Mei Mei
Playing blocks together. . . . Naomi screams and Thanie pushes her buttons, I guess he likes to hear the screaming. At the end of the day they need good night kisses from one another. She belongs here.
The other day Nathaniel told me that when he grows up he and Naomi are going to get married and move a couple houses up the street and bring the wii. So sad, I had to inform him that he can not marry his little sister. Then he asked if he could marry me. Not going to work either as I am married to daddy. He then decided that he and Auntie Kim would get married. I did not have the heart to tell him that that was not going to work out either.

Split Pants
Here they are. The little fellow in orange. I had to get a picture. They must get cold little tushies. I would love to know how they really work??? Like, do the parents run the risk of being peed and pooped on? We actually saw a little boy squat down and do his business right outside of an elevator. Interesting concept. Naomi has a pair but I think I will stick with diapers.
P.S. This post is for a friend at work . . . we had a conversation about split pants and i had to show her the real deal.

Little Pity Party and a Prayer Request
The other day as I was unplugging the toilet (sorry if that is way more than you needed to know) I asked one of the boys (who shall not be named) to shut the bathroom door so the little curious pink casted girl would not come get in the toilet mess. Guess whos fingers got squished and I meen squished in the door. Poor girl. Yes the same hand as the broken arm.
Now you see the cute curly haired fellow in the tub with the pink casted girl. Well, the other night around 2 am I was awoken by a sad cry. I went to investigate and poor little fellow was laying on the floor still all wrapped in his comforter. I gave him some love and put him back in his bed. Did I check for any injuries? NOPE! When I went to make my morning rounds, this time at 7:30am poor little guy was rubbing his head telling me how much it hurt. I took a closer look and sure enough a big ole' bruise. That was not bad enough there were 2 small red wounds. These wounds would be in the shape of legos. I felt like a "bad mom" not the first or last time I am sure. Next time I think I will investigate a little further when one of my children falls out of bed. And maybe just maybe the little fellow and his big brother will pick up the legos before bed, at least the ones right next to the bed.
Next is this handsome little mop top. HIVES!! poor guy has swollen hands and feet and itches all over. He did get to miss 2 days of school.
Look how this daddy looks at his little girl. We are truly blessed with our health, happiness and our family.
Pete has a childhood friend that is in the final stage of life. He is dying from brain cancer. Tonight his wife wrote a very sad message on their blog. She has to say goodbye to her love, her partner, her husband. Their children have to say goodbye to their daddy. It is heartbreaking. If you are the praying type Please pray for the Wong family.

1.5 years old - Home for 3 months
My sweet, cute little China doll has been home for 3 months now. Wow!! She has settled into her new family very nicely. We love her so very much. She has brought so much joy to our house. The other day I had to put away some of her clothes and shoes, why must they grow so fast? She is learning English, she understands allot but not saying much. She loves her blankly, sleeps like a champ (still in our room but in her crib), loves avocado and pasta just about anything savory. One of my favorite things is when she she gives hugs and pats my back, that just melts my heart. She is a keeper, we all really LOVE having her home, it feels so wonderful and complete.
